Power in the small things❤️

Zone kids…. One of the most impactful and beautiful things of these last 12 weeks.

Our team said “see you later” this Tuesday to all their beautiful little faces and the staff said that they have never cried like that in the five years since the ministry has begun. It broke my heart but it was so incredible to see the power of simple love.

Don’t ever underestimate the power of playing with a child, bringing them hot chocolate and teaching a simple bible story.

It is the beginning of a miracle.

These kids have brought so much joy, laughter and reality into my life. I am forever changed.

Spent our day off in Playas, SO BEAUTIFUL! This little pocket is an artists haven. Graffiti is one of my all time favorite things, so needless to say, every 10 steps was time for a photo op. We had a little fun with it:) Enjoy! •Lexi

Cultivate Thanksgiving

If someone was to ask me to describe what I have been learning the last few months in a single word, with no hesitation I would reply “thankfulness”. The concept of seeking out a focusing on the blessing in each and every situation. Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday, but this year it was particularly special. This morning, I was reading this passage and it really hit home for me:

“Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And CULTIVATE THANKFULNESS. Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, THANKING God the Father every step of the way.”Colossians‬ ‭3:15-17‬ ‭

The idea of cultivating is that of working and preparing for a seed to be down. When we walk in thanksgiving, we are readying our hearts for life to be born. This is by far one of the best lessons I have ever learned, the freedom and joy is indescribable.

Moving in the Mountain❤️

Saturday was a mini outreach day in the colonias, an impoverished community in this area. We were able to give out clothes, food and water to the people in the neighborhood and to play soccer and color with the kids. Something as simple as giving a little girl a new shirt and watching her face light up and then smile shyly… Its powerful. Mother Theresa said; “Let no one ever come to you without leaving better or happier. Be the living expression of Gods kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.” I want to be a foot washer, a servant, a steward of the little things. There is big impact when we start with the small.

Culture love❤️

One thing I completely adore about YWAM is all of the cultures represented. We are all drawn out of our comfort zone by living in another country and trying to communicate with one another. Zane and I have both downloaded apps to help us learn Spanish, we are definantly getting somewhere even if it’s as fast as a stampede of turtles running through peanut butter😉 Here’s some of our team and the countries that we represent, there’s 9 just in our group alone!!

Heart, Body and Soul

Its one of those soulful searching kind of days. Who is God really? Putting aside all “christianese” and coming back to “Who the heck are you and what are you about?”. Growing up in a Christian home, church, Awana, and every Christian event possible is beautiful, but sometimes those of us that did have that need to step back from all the churchyness and just get real with God. Who are you and who am I?

I am not a morning person by any means, but (being forced😉) into waking up early and getting alone with the Lord is so exciting and terrifying to me -once I wake up. Its like finding out your not so exciting math teacher is actually a ninja – it wasn’t him that was boring, it was the curriculum! I’m not pointing fingers or wanting to hurt anyone’s feelings, but I am challenging you and myself to see things differently. I am asking God to teach me him ninja skills, and I bet he would teach you too if you say please😊

Adios!

Hi friends!❤️

Just a quick update tonight. It was a breakthrough kind of day. Instead of the scheduled lectures, We had the opportunity to spend two hours as an army of warriors going to battle against the enemy’s ploys. There has been a lot of resistance but this morning was powerful. We were all united as a team and I can’t wait to see more of that fire😊

hugs, lexi❤️

Avengers assembling??

Yes. By the way, we did have a Superman sighting.

Now I know he is not officially an Avenger, so all you Marvel needs can settle down.

But, he did mention Hydra, sooooooo…..

(maybe he was talking about getting a drink though, that could be a possibility)

Hydra sounds much more devious so we will stick with that.

There is a ten second clip on my (Lexi’s) Facebook.

Youre welcome.

We are here!!! We made it safe, sound and car-sick to our base in San Antonio del Mar. Our Puerto Rican  chauffeur was one of a kind in the best way possible. After picking us up from the San Diego airport, and finding out that neither of us had ever been to this Californian city, he promptly took it upon himself to give us the midnight tour. He talked away about the food, famous places, attractions and more about the food while weaving in and out of cars and pedestrians at the speed of light. We were extrmely nauseous and very entertained.

We  arrived at the border, got our visas and went  through no problem. Arriving on base, we were guided to our room for the next 3 months. White walls, tile floor, and a couple drawers for storage, I (Lexi) was struck by how God will often strip everything down that is comfortable (such as; every kind of organizing receptacle imaginable in one room) and that is so often where His monumental stretching begins.

Today was indeed that, stretching. At least for me, consciously choosing to die to myself and love selflessly was ever present. Being mostly an introvert, the idea of small talk and playing group icebreaker games is slightly terrifying. And since this was our first day, there was a lot of that. It’s funny though, because when you decide do step out of that safe, ever secure box…. Amazing things happen. I was able to find out how many amazing people are at this base. We played several ridiculously, silly games and got to eat the most amazing and authentic Mexican food for lunch.

There I go, sounding like our chauffeur . He has a point though.

We did a photo scavenger hunt in Rosarito, went to Walmart, and got to laugh with a lot of people but especially with each other. While writing tonight, I am so taken over with emotion at how blessed I am to have a man like Zane as my husband and to be here with him. YWAM stands for Youth With a Mission, but it has affectionately been dubbed Young Women After Men. I’ll tell you what, I am after this man. I think I have a pretty good chance at catching him😉 God is good and He gives us good gifts.image
